Perranporth Golf Club's 18 hole course magnificantly sited on the cliff top and designed by the Open Champion, James Baird, is well worth a visit. The coastal path runs past Tregundy Farmhouse and leads to the charming old mining village of St Agnes (3 miles) and on to Newquay, offering spectacular views over the North Atlantic and as well as bracing sea air. The Perranporth Airfield offers flying tuition, self-fly hire and, in the summer season, scenic trips for holiday makers. The park and gardens in Perranporth include a boating lake, hard and grass tennis courts and a bowling green where visitors are always welcome. There are also riding stables close by which cater for both the novice and the more experienced rider. There is a cycle route from the ancient quays at Devoran to the harbour at Portreath along old Mineral Tramways. Cycles can be hired from Bissoe Tramways Cycle Hire. Newquay (6 miles) offers many attractions including the Blue Reef Aquarium, which features a stunning coral reef display viewed from an underwater walk through tunnel, and Newquay Zoo which won a Silver Award for Visitor Attraction of the Year 2005. |
